Olympic Meltdown
Did you know that between 1982 and 2009, the number of glaciers in the Olympic Mountains shrank from 266 to 184? The loss of glaciers will continue to dwindle further, here in Washington and around the world, as the climate continues to change.

In an effort to immortalize the glaciers of the Olympic Mountains through art, the Terminus project was created. Selected artists have created an original work as a tribute to their assigned glacier. As these glaciers melt away, the works of art will live on as a reminder that they were meaningful, and are still meaningful.

Find out about our Terminus project event below.

Between 1982 and 2009, the number of glaciers in the Olympic Mountains shrank from 266 to 184. We know that number will dwindle further as the climate continues to change. The goal of the Terminus projectis to immortalize the glaciers of the Olympic Mountains through art. Come hear scientist Bill Baccus of Olympic National Park talk about receding glaciers in Olympic National Park, and the artists of Terminus to speak on their work.

Join us on Seward Park Audubon's latest installment of Science, Nature, and a Biscuit. A warm biscuit, butter, jam, and hot tea will be available!

We will study the essentials of tree identification, learn about flowering plants and the insects that pollinate them, and search for the dozens of migratory songbird species that are nesting around us.

We will spend the mornings in the Audubon Center in a classroom setting, then head into the Park to practice our skills in the field. Join Lead Naturalist Ed Dominguez and let's dive deep into the Spring!

Artist Khuyen Lam created 'Rivers, Lakes & The Sea: A Painted Tour of the Olympics' to take viewers on an adventure across the breathtaking landscape of Olympic National Park and the peninsula. Using a paintbrush as a vehicle, the paintings will transport viewers to along dramatic coastlines, serene lakeshores, winding river bends, and cascading waterfalls.

The Seward Park Audubon Center is proud to host Khuyen’s masterful works of watercolor and digital illustration. Khuyen invites us to embark on a visual road trip across the Olympic peninsula to witness the pristine nature, appreciate its beauty, and to reflect on the importance of conserving these priceless landscapes for future generations.
